“When Are You Going to Vanuatu?”,

seems to be a very common question these days. The fact of the matter is, only God knows. We won’t get there a moment sooner, or a moment later than He determines. It is very comforting to know God is in control of every detail. Of course, we are anxious to get to the field but we also know it would be foolish to go under-prepared. Therefore it has been our prayer that the Lord would guide us in the preparations that would be necessary for the work in Vanuatu to succeed for His glory. Along those lines, it appears as though the Lord may be opening some doors in the way of a missions internship. If this is indeed what the Lord has in store for us it would mean some big changes, the least of which is leaving our home in Montana. Needless to say, we would be grateful for you to join us in prayer for God's guidance and clarity. This is not yet for certain, but we are willing to follow wherever the Lord would lead. We are also praying about a possibility for in-depth linguistics and translation training. Once again, please pray with us for God’s clear leading. We know that when we trust Him with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding, and when in all our ways we acknowledge Him, He will direct our path.

On the Road

For quite some time we have been anticipating a trip to our home state of Washington to spend time with family and connect with supporters. With the possible upcoming changes, rather than have to put the trip off altogether, we thought it would be best to move it up a bit. So we're off! We will be in Washington for most of the month of February. Pray with us for the Lord to bless this time we have with our families and also that He will provide many opportunities for us to share the mission to Vanuatu as we continue towards our goal of 100% support.

How are we doing on support?

As many of you know, 100% of our regular support needs must be met in order to be allowed to depart for the field. Biblical Ministries Worldwide is a faith based organization, fully relying on God to supply for the needs of His missionaries. It has been a blessing to see God work through His people, supplying support from the most unlikely places! We are trusting Him to supply in His time.

In addition the financial support we have a goal of 500 committed prayer partners who will battle with us in prayer, for our family and this ministry, on a regular basis. If you would like to be a part of this prayer team email us and let us know!

The Lord will provide!

If having prayerfully sought the Lord’s will you would like to partner with us financially ~

1. Send check or money order payable to Biblical Ministries Worldwide (for tax purposes).

2. On a separate sheet of paper write: “Missionary Name: Jim & Tania Kenner”, “one-time gift” or “regular monthly support”

3. Mail to: Biblical Ministries Worldwide, 1595 Herrington Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30043-5616

A Blessed New Year!

We are settling into the new year. How about you? How many times have you mis-dated your checks so far? ;)

Jim is transitioning into the new job relatively smoothly, thanks be to God. Please continue to pray.

In December when I updated our blog I failed to mention that for now we will be doing our updates bi-monthly. If you just can't wait, and would like to know what we're up to, send us an email. We would love to hear from you. Many of you will be hearing from us soon anyway as we begin to make travel plans. We are very excited to have opportunities to share the ministry to Vanuatu with the Lord's people.

Please be praying with us that He would move in people's hearts to be open to hearing about the ministry, and that our brothers and sisters in Christ would prayerfully seek His will about joining with us in the work that He has prepared.

For His Glory~

During this Christmas season,

as we are contemplating and rejoicing in the birth of our Savior,

I can’t help but think of the many people on this earth

that still have no access to the knowledge of what He has done for them.

“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins,

and not only for ours

but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2.

This is why He calls us to go.

The Greatest Gift is not only for us, but for all who would believe.

“For God so loved the world…”

Seasons Greetings! ~ A Year In Review

It is hard to believe that another entire year has passed! Naturally, as this year comes to a close, we look back on what it has held for us. As a family this has been an extraordinary time of change. It was this January that our family was first introduced to Houghton and Gretchen Richards and consequently became involved with Team Vanuatu. We had prayerfully been seeking the Lord’s direction for our lives and He had answered us! With gratitude, humility and an immense amount of prayer, we responded to the Lord’s call to take His Gospel to the unreached.

We are thankful that in March of this year the Lord provided the opportunity for me (Jim) to participate in a survey trip to Vanuatu (a country that before January I didn’t even know existed). I was able to meet the peoples that will become the focus of the work God has prepared for us. What an awesome adventure! The Ni-Vanuatu were so kind and generous, especially with what little they had. What really blew me away was their thirst for the Word, and their unbelievable lack of access to it. This survey trip turned out to be the tool God used to place an unrelenting burden on my heart. A burden unlike any other I have ever experienced. After a long period of waiting and wondering what the Lord had in store for us, we now had a clear purpose.

Upon returning, our family focused on preparing for the work ahead. There was (and still is) so much that needed to be done. Tania and I began intensive training for the type of ministry God is leading us to. In addition, we began researching the language, culture, and jungle/tropical living. Joshua and Grace also began learning about our future home. Through their studies they began basic language lessons in Bislama and French. They also began learning about jungle/tropical living in general, and what it might be like living in a different culture. We have met so many wonderful people, as well as strengthened existing relationships, that have been a huge help and encouragement to us (thank you!) We thank the Lord for the equipping that has taken place. And with His blessing we will prayerfully continue to prepare in the coming year.

Our family has been very understanding and supportive. Nonetheless, being in the process of letting go of things that will not be useful in our new home has made answering the Grandparents’ questions of ‘What do the kids want for Christmas this year?’ interesting! This has been a huge time of change and upheaval for us, but the kids are little troopers. We are truly blessed with adventurous children with a zeal for God’s work.

We have begun the process of support raising – referred to as deputation. We thank God for all of those who have joined with us in this mission through your financial support and prayers. In anticipation of the travel necessary during deputation, I have taken a new job that will allow us to do just that. We look forward to visiting with many of you. Please prayerfully consider allowing us to share the mission with your family, friends, or small group. For those of you who are on our prayer team, please continue to pray for us as the coming year will, I am sure, be a challenge to us all.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a truly blessed New Year.

Your Fellow Servants of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The Kenners ~ Jim, Tania, Grace, and Joshua

Praises and Prayers

Always pray and do not give up!

We praise God for...

  • His provision, He knows what we need before we even ask.
  • The peace that He has blessed us with even amidst the sense of urgency
  • Those who have joined with us after prayerfully seeking the Lord’s will in the matter.
  • We join you in praising God for the gift of His Son.

Please join us in praying…

  • For opportunities to share the ministry as we seek for the support team He is calling to labor with us through their prayers, finances, and encouragement.
  • That the Lord would stretch our resources (time, energy, finances) during this time of deputation.
  • That the Lord would lead us to the specific people whose hearts He has been preparing for His Word.
