Goats and Guitars

This past Sunday Grace and Josh were blessed with a lesson on hand feeding the Ireland family's baby goats! Grace also got lessons on milking and, according to Greta, she did a really good job. With the possibility of having goats for milk when we move to the bush, this could prove to be valuable experience! Anyhow, it was fun. Grace especially is happy to do anything having to do with animals!

Another blessing... Before even having the chance to post a prayer request, the Lord provided us with a guitar (thank you Irelands). So the prayer request now is for the Lord's help in learning to play it!

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."

We need to get better about taking pictures! Getting wrapped up in the excitement of meeting and visiting with new people, taking pictures completely slips our minds. But even though we don't have pictures to share we want to thank those of you who have allowed us the opportunity of sharing our burden for the Ni-Vanuatu with you. A special thank you to those who have taken time to help us set up these meetings! We praise God for all of you!

We’re Off... on deputation that is!

As we shared with you in our last update, we felt the Lord was leading us to make the transition into full-time deputation ministry. For us this meant moving out of our home in Montana in order to spend the next several months traveling the country for support meetings as the Lord provides opportunities. So March was spent sorting through our earthly possessions, packing what we might need to take to Vanuatu, giving away what we knew we wouldn’t, and tossing the rest that nobody would want. Our beloved pets, Phoenix and Caspian, were settled into their new homes. Moving out was a chore that took significantly more time than we expected (all month!) but the Lord got us through it.

We are now in Washington State. The Lord has provided meetings with churches, study groups, and gatherings of individuals. As we continue to strive for a full schedule, God is blessing us with open doors. It is such a blessing to see Him work!

In nearly every update we ask you to pray with us for open doors, and financial and prayer partners. These prayers are crucial! James 4:2 says, “You do not have, because you do not ask.” Please continue to persist in prayer with us for these things. Do not become weary! We are so grateful for those of you who are with us in this way.

In Piper’s “Let the Nations Be Glad: The Supremacy of God in Missions”, he compares prayer to a wartime walkie-talkie in which we have a direct line to the Commander. All we have to do is ask for what we need to win the battle and He will provide. But we have to ask. So when we pray, let’s pray knowing that we are at war (Ephesians 6:12), believing that whatever we ask for, we will receive (Mat 21:2; John 16:24), if we ask with the right motives (James 4:3).

Lord, not our will, but Yours, be done.

Answered Prayer Requests for March ~ Praise God! Thank you for praying with us!

God Almighty is answering our prayers and moving in such a powerful way. It is so encouraging! We hope you will be encouraged too...

Prayer partners have been praying with us for~

• The quick and profitable sale of our crane truck and land.
• The Lord blessed us with the sale of both!
• Provision.
• The profits provided by the Lord through the sale of our land will help with a significant portion of our one-time expenses associated with getting to the field. Also, for several years we have been receiving an allotment that we've used to make the payment on the land. With the land now sold, we no longer have to make a land payment. That income can now be devoted to our ongoing monthly support needs.
• Many open doors to share our vision for ministry.
• That Lord have been providing those opportunities (sometimes from the least expected of places.) He s also reminding us that this is His work. He will provide! Let's keep praying!
• God to work in a mighty way to provide financial and prayer partners.
• Thank you, to those of you who have partnered with us. Through you God has provided another 3% of our monthly support!
• For our family during this time of transition.
• Our merciful Lord continues to strengthen our eternal prospective. This last month held a lot of change, especially for Grace and Josh. We praise God for their attitudes in all this. He gave us such adventurous kids!

Prayer: Committed prayer warriors are our most needed supporters both for now and once we’re in Vanuatu. If you are such a person and have a burden to pray for us, our team, and for salvation of the Ni-Vanuatu on a regular basis (daily, weekly), please let us know so we can send you regular prayer updates.

Encouragement/Logistics: Regular (monthly, bi-monthly) encouragement in the form of cards, personal e-mails, care packages (especially when in Vanuatu), visits in-country, assistance with needs in the US, setting up churches or hosting home groups for presentations, etc.

Financial Support: Committed, monthly givers are needed to raise our support the remaining 68% for us to be fully supported and able to leave for Vanuatu this September. Also, one-time gifts are important to help with various projects. Current projects are our “outgoing” (to pay for airfare, VISA’s, a shipping container, and other items needed to move to Vanuatu) and “Education” for our Bible translation training in Australia (January –November 2009, We are hoping that Jim’s tuition will be covered by his G.I. bill, so that just leaves Tania’s tuition cost, approximately $6400). Tax deduction and receipting is all handled through Biblical Ministries Worldwide. To give one-time, please write a check to BMW and send it to: 1595 Herrington Rd, Lawrenceville, GA 30043. Enclose a note with our name and the project name like “outgoing project” or “lifelong learning project.” For monthly giving, you may manually send in a check written to BMW each month with a separate note saying “monthly support for Jim and Tania Kenner.” However, automated giving is easiest and doesn’t require you to remember to send it in each month.
