For those of you that don't know Laura Thulesen, she is one of our teammates. She has been in the capital of Vanuatu, Port Vila, for almost 4 weeks now along with Houghton and Gretchen (her sister) Richards.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words but that is not always the case. Check out Laura's blog... in her most recent post she does an awesome job of describing the things that you just cant always convey in pictures.

Shots ...check

"Grace gets to go first right?" asks Josh.
He was a bit nervous. But like a little man, he went first. He was a little trooper, hardly even winced.

Grace's turn came... she cried, and mom held her hand.

Mom's turn... "Wow, that hurts! No wonder you cried!" They really stick ya deep!

Dad... well, he's a big boy.

We are happy to have it taken care of. It was more expensive than we anticipated. But the Lord provided through a wonderfully awesome supportive local church, and the local doctors office who did the kids' shots for free. He is Jehovah Jireh!

33 Days, and Counting...

I spent hours today on the Internet researching the CDC and WHO (World Health Organization) websites to nail down what they recommend for people visiting or working in Vanuatu. There are the shots of course - typhoid, Hep A, Hep B, and any boosters we need. Simple enough, but spendy. I did find some good news though... Blue Turtle, the company we decided to get our Malaria meds from, also has a product that works for Dengue Fever - yay! Dengue Fever, a.k.a. 'Bone Crushing Disease' (I think that about explains it), is another mosquito borne disease that is a risk in Vanuatu. Finding that this medication is available and affordable was a huge blessing!

I know military personnel are using it a lot these days to stay in touch with the people back home. The TeamV ladies have used it for having long distance Bible studies.

Our Teammates Arrive in 'Vila-town'

'Vila-town'... bislama for 'Port Vila'.

The Richards in Vanuatu - Gretchen & Addy, Houghton, Jesiah, and Gwenny

Houghton, Gretchen and Laura arrived in Vanuatu a little over a week ago. They are doing great! We just got a phone call (can you believe it, a phone call!) from Houghton today. Completely unexpected, but an awesome blessing to hear from them. They got a good rate, but not good enough that they are going to be calling home everyday!

We are so excited for them! God is providing... a place to stay, language helpers and friends, the kids are doing well, and they are adjusting to the time change. They are in temporary housing for now, looking for permanent housing for themselves, the Jones', and us.
